The sweats that become easy wins are always welcome. The eighth inning was all she wrote as the Jays came across for six. To finish out the week, we are heading to St. Louis, where the Cardinals are hosting the Yankees. The Yankees have their commanding lead out in the AL East, but the Cardinals just took full advantage of the Brewers getting swept by the Pirates and have moved into a tie for first place.

It’s still too early to let your foot off the gas, as the Blue Jays are one game away from trimming their deficit to single digits. The usual suspects have started to pop up on the injured list and you are starting to see some regression from this team that seemingly could not be beat in the first half of the season. He gets the ball in today’s game, and the Yankees are 14-5 in games when he starts, and he has got himself a 9-3 record. Cortes has been solid all season. We all know he went to the All Star Game, but he is just super effective at not allowing the other team to get much going and that leads to very few runs scored.

The red birds come in having won four in a row and seven out of their last 10. As we mentioned, the Cardinals are now tied for first in the NL Central and now have a tough series against the Yankees to try and jump into sole possession of first. Today they send Hudson to the hill, where they are 8-11 in his starts and have lost the last four. Hudson has compiled a 6-6 record so far this season. The Cardinals’ crowded base paths and losses have resulted from low strikeout numbers and higher-than-normal walk rates. These teams don’t meet very often, but the Cardinals don’t have history on their side either, as since 1997 the Yankees are 9-3 against the redbirds.

Yankees vs Cardinals Pick: Yankees ML
This one seems pretty easy. You have an All-Star pitcher against a guy that is struggling with his walks and strikeouts. Even if the Cardinals were to pull out ahead, it always feels like the Yankees are never out of a game.

Same Game Parlay:
Yankees ML, Aaron Judge to hit a HR, DJ LeMahieu to record 2+ hits and Anthony Rizzo to record a run.
