We head to Boston for this matchup that has two teams seemingly trending in different directions. The Celtics seem almost lost through their first four games and the Wizards have impressed some with their new group of players. Now these guys are not franchise players for Washington. That role still belongs to Bradley Beal, but they have finally rewarded him with a decent supporting cast that can help him win some games. Now, it’s still very early, but you have to like what you’re seeing out of this team if you’re a Wizards fan, especially compared to what the team has looked like for the past few seasons.

Let’s take a better look at this team. Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, and Montrez Harell all came over from the Lakers in the Westbrook trade and have made big impacts on this team already in the beginning of the season. Spencer Dinwiddie who was signed in a sign and trade deal this off-season is actually the leading scorer on this team currently. Now, it’s unusual to not see 30+ points per game next to Beal’s name, but he now has a supporting cast that can score and won’t need to always be the center of the offense. These guys also bring improved defense and depth to the team, two things that were seriously lacking in previous years. Washington currently sits 12th in the league on defense, a spot they have not seen for a long time. The offense is right around the middle of the pack ranking 19th with 107 points per game. Statistically, they are going up against the worst ranked defense in the league currently in Boston but the numbers are a bit padded as the Celtics have already played multiple overtime’s.

While the Celtics defensive stats might be a little better than meets the eye, their defense is still an area of concern. Boston currently ranks 24th in points allowed in the paint with 50 per game and rank 26th in opponents three point percentage allowing teams to make 38.5% of their threes. Offensively, Boston currently sits at sixth in the league but again the stats are a bit padded due to the multiple overtime games. Without any OT, Boston is averaging 107 points per game ranking them at 21st. The Celtics are going to need to come into this game more focused then they have been. This is not your same Wizards team as it has been and with frustration building in Boston already, a win here can go a long way.

Celtics vs Wizards the Pick: Washington +4.5
The Wizards always seem to cover in these spots and with their reputation, they are still being a bit overlooked. This team has looked the best they have looked in the past three years and have a few more guys to get back that will make them even better. 4.5 is a good amount of points for a team that seems to be on the rise against a Celtics team that seems to be looking to find their identity. Take the Wizards with the points.
