WHITE SOX VS ASTROS JUNE 17

Kyle Barrette

Just like that, the NBA season has finished. Congratulations to the Warriors. We are now on our 2.5 month trip of nothing but baseball. Then, once again, it will be the best five months of the year: football season. Today we’re heading to where everything is bigger for a big matchup between the Astros and the White Sox.

Houston:
The Astros currently have a commanding lead in their division as the Angels have forgotten how to play baseball over the last few weeks. The Astros have built a nine-game lead. A few departures over the last few seasons, but this is still one of the better lineups in baseball. They also have one of the better rotations in the league as well. He goes today for Houston. He just had his six game streak snapped of Astros wins in his starts. Now, nothing against Valdez; he did his job, but those victories all came against bad teams. Not to overshadow his wins, but looking at the bigger picture, they are not as impressive as they seem. The walks catch your eye when looking at the stats; three in each of his last three outings. The White Sox haven’t been all that so far this season, but they have shown flashes and if they can draw walks, they could be trouble.

The Sox are back!
It’s really frustrating to watch a good team struggle. It’s a multitude of things: injuries, mediocre bullpen, and bad base running. They are slowly getting better and, from the looks of things, will continue to improve. Today they are sending Giolito to the mound. Giolito started the season solid, but over his last three starts he has been hit pretty hard. He’s allowed at least four runs and six hits in each of those last three starts. He has also allowed five home runs in those three starts. The offense seems to have finally started clicking as they have scored at least five runs in seven straight games. If Giolito is on tonight, five runs might be enough for the win.

White Sox vs Astros Pick: White Sox ML
The plus money on the White Sox here is a little too good to pass up. The offense is heating up, and Giolito is due for a good outing. There is too much value in the White Sox for us not to take them here.

Same Game Parlay:
White Sox ML, Lucas Giolito Over 5.5 K’s, Luis Robert to record 2+ hits and Jose Abreu to record an RBI.
