TNF: COWBOYS VS SAINTS BEST BETS/PROPS
Although Monday’s betting performance yielded a 1-2 result, this Thursday night game is a great opportunity to bounce back. In this NFC matchup, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys travel to Louisiana to face off against Taysom Hill and the New Orleans Saints. Last week, the Buffalo Bills thumped the Saints whereas the Cowboys were narrowly defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders. These teams’ stocks have fallen significantly, but one will be back on track for the playoffs following the final whistle. With this in mind, here is what I like for this Thursday NFL action.
The Cowboys opened this game as five-point road favorites and that is the current listed spread. Although the Saints are 1-3 ATS in their previous four games overall, Dallas is also 1-3 ATS in their last four games. Additionally, New Orleans is a tremendous 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 as an overall underdog. Although the Cowboys have proven they are a lock for the postseason, they are currently on a two game skid where they have looked vulnerable. However, the Saints have problems of their own with Jameis Winston out for the season and Alvin Kamara missing yet another game. With Sean Payton now turning to Taysom Hill to start at quarterback, the offense should be a lot more dynamic. In Week 12, they looked obsolete with Trevor Siemian under center, so they should show improvements with a refreshed look. Although this Cowboys defense has 15 INTs on the season, they are a top five worst unit in yards allowed, so watch out for Taysom Hill to possibly come out on fire. With a record of 5-6, this is a win or season’s over scenario for the Saints so expect them to really go all out in this one. Take them plus the points to keep this competitive at home.
Ezekiel Elliott Over 46.5 Rushing Yards
After running for just 25 yards on the ground vs the Raiders, Ezekiel Elliott will be hungry to have a more productive outing this time. Additionally, he only had 9 carries, so expect him to be much more involved in the offensive game plan. Zeke has been an absolute workhorse for the Boys where he has nine total touchdowns and almost 1,000 yards from scrimmage already. Additionally, he has been a great help in the passing game with 40 receptions on the season. Although the Saints hold fairly good numbers against the run this season, the Cowboys offensive line has proven they can plow through any stout defense in the league. Not to mention the unique abilities of Zeke that propel him to monstrous numbers. In Week 12, their defense allowed nearly 100 yards rushing versus the Bills mediocre rushing attack. New Orleans will be missing a lot of key players on the defense, so expect Zeke to be productive in some fashion. With the Cowboys elite offensive front, they should be able to somewhat take control of the line of scrimmage. Take Ezekiel Elliott to run by this total rushing yardage prop with ease.
Taysom Hill Anytime TD (+175)
With the limited amount of scoring options the Saints have, QB Taysom Hill would be a top red zone threat for the Saints. Although their offense looked lost in Week 12, their offense will look entirely different with Hill now as the starter. Not only is he a serviceable game manager for this offense, but he is one of the best athletes at the position with his unique power running abilities. Additionally, Dallas ranks in the bottom third for rushing yards allowed, and they have proved to be a soft rush defense versus anyone they face. This prop has tremendous value given he is their only reliable rushing option and has been on the bench most of the season. Take him to score one in what should be a high scoring contest.
