TNF: 49ERS VS TITANS BEST BETS/PROPS

Kyle Barrette

After a subpar performance for Tuesday Night’s Football edition of ‘Best Bets’, this Thursday special is a great opportunity to bounce back. In this interconference matchup, Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers travel to Nashville where they face off against Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans. Last week, the 49ers thumped the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 31-13 whereas the Titans were narrowly defeated in their battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With a Titans win and Colts loss Tennessee can clinch their division, so expect a tough performance by them at home. With this in mind, here is what I love for this Thursday night action.

Titans (+3)
The Titans originally opened this game as one-point home favorites but that line has moved where they are now three point dogs. While San Francisco is 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games, Tennessee is a shoddy 1-4 ATS in their previous five matches. Additionally, the Titans have lost three of their last five overall. Although this matchup features two teams currently going in opposite directions, the Titans still control their own destiny, and they won’t want to give that power up by losing this one. Additionally, this 49ers squad has some flaws of their own. Although the Titans have not been as productive on offense with the absence of players like Derrick Henry and Julio Jones, they will get some slight relief going up against an average niners defense. If Tennessee can mitigate turnovers by taking care of the ball, unlike last week, they should be able to secure a home victory. Although this San Fran offensive unit has had some good outings this season, they have had some inconsistencies where they can’t get out of their own way on that side of the ball. With a record of 9-5, I believe the Titans have been slept on due to injuries but tonight they must lay it all on the line. Take Tennessee plus the points, where they look to get revenge against this 49ers team.

Ryan Tannehill Over 14.5 Rushing Yards
After running five times for 18 yards and a touchdown on the ground versus the Steelers, Ryan Tannehill’s dynamic abilities have allowed him to have major success on the ground, and he’ll look to carry that into this one. Tannehill has been an absolute stud for the Titans where he has a whopping seven rushing touchdowns and averages five yards a carry. Additionally, he has run the ball at least five times in each game this season, so he has been very involved in their rushing attack this season. Although the 49ers hold fairly good numbers against the run this season, Tannehill has proven he can tuck it and run and is an innate escape artist. With the 49ers heavy pass rush, Tannehill will be outside of the pocket for a lot of this game so expect him to show off his legs at some point. With his efficient dual-threat ability, he should be able to easily hit this mark as he has done it in 10 of his 15 starts. Take Ryan Tannehill to easily run by this total rushing yardage prop.

George Kittle Any Time TD (+130)
Following a productive outing in his last performance, 49ers tight end George Kittle should once again be a big part of the passing attack. With star rookie running back Elijah Mitchell out again in this one, the San Fran offense should be airing it out again like they have since he’s been out for them. So far, he has caught a solid 63 receptions on six touchdown receptions. However, he does have nearly 90 targets in a pass-heavy system, so he has been a big part of their offense. George is a great red zone threat and with his touchdown prop looking this juicy, it must be taken advantage of. With few weapons on the 49ers offense, they will most likely run their offense through him and Deebo Samuel. Although the Titans rank in the top half in pass defense, it will be hard to contain a player of Kittle’s caliber. He has had some monstrous outings this year where has had double digit targets on four occasions and a multi-touchdown performance. With how sure handed he is, he’ll make teams pay that give him any space at all. Expect Kittle to have an overall productive night and take him to score one for the Niners.
