Fresh off a no-sweat winner last night, we have another good angle for you on the hardwood for tonight’s action. We head to the Eastern Conference for what could be a potential playoff matchup between Atlanta and Philly. The Sixers have dealt with a lot through the first month and a half of the season and have come out at .500 on the other side. The Hawks hit a rough patch early but have been able to turn the corner and grind out some gritty wins and are now moving forward with a winning record. So which of these two teams has the edge in this matchup? Let’s break it down.

You would think, “Alright, finally the Sixers got everyone back from injury and they are ready to go and be one of the top teams in the East again”. That’s where you would be wrong though. It has not been the return to dominance that Sixers fans were hoping for. In fact, it’s been the opposite. The Sixers are 1-2 since Embiid’s return, and they scored an almost season-low 87 points in a loss to the Celtics. The problem being, over the last two games, Embiid has not been producing like he normally does. Seth Curry has led the Sixers in points while Embiid has only dropped 13 and 16. The Hawks are one of the league’s elite offenses and Philly isn’t going to hang in this game if Embiid is going for less than 20. The Sixers also just play average ball when they are on the road. They come into this game 6-6 straight up as a road team, a mark that will again be tested here.

What is there not to like about Trae Young? I mean, when I back Atlanta, you have this feeling that you are never out of the game simply because all this guy does is score and create plays for this team. He recently led the Hawks to a seven-game win streak that was snapped by the Knicks, but they quickly rebounded, beating the Pacers by a bucket. The Hawks are one of the best home teams that you’re going to see in the league. This fanbase is electric, and the players love playing there, and it shows in the results. Atlanta is 8-2 straight up at home this season. Atlanta comes in with the seventh-ranked offense in the league. Their only weakness has been their defense, where they rank 20th. If they can keep Embiid in check like he has been, look for smooth sailing in Atlanta.

Sixers vs. Hawks The Pick: Hawks ML
This home court advantage is right up there with the Sixers. These teams are mirror images of each other’s dominant home teams and poor road teams. The Sixers beat the Hawks by nearly 30 points earlier in the season in Philadelphia, and now it’s time for Atlanta to return the favor. Take the Hawks on the money line.
