SGG Picks of the Day, Sept. 24
VIRGINIA -3 vs WAKE FOREST (-115 DK)
Although Wake Forest is 3-0 this season and has outscored their opponents by a total of 80-40, they have not played a road game this season. Virginia will be tough at home. After losing last week at North Carolina by 20, they will also be eager to ramp up the energy tonight. I like Virginia giving the points at home. Another fun sprinkle in this game would be to take the over 68.5 (-110 DK). Virginia has loved to both gain and allow a ton of yards on the season. Plus, both teams are averaging well over 35 points per game.

SYRACUSE +6.5 vs LIBERTY (-110 DK)
Two words. Home. Dogs. Although Liberty handled their business at Syracuse last season (they won easily 38-21), I don’t trust the mid-major to walk into a power five school to do it again. I get that Liberty was phenomenal last season and has gotten off to a nice start this year (albeit against nobody). That said, I like the Orange to cover in this one. With fans in the stands to keep the team energized, Syracuse will keep things close.

YANKEES at RED SOX Under 9 (-115 DK)
This pick is based purely on the pitching matchup. Gerrit Cole (15-8, 3.03 ERA) faces off against Nathan Eovaldi (10-8, 3.58 ERA). In his last start, Cole got shelled allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits over 5.2 innings pitched. That type of performance will not happen twice in a row from the current AL Cy Young frontrunner. In the month of September, Eovaldi has been rock solid pitching to a 2.70 ERA. Against the Yankees this year, he possesses a 2.01 ERA over five starts. Runs will be scarce.
