RANGERS VS MARINERS APRIL 21

Kyle Barrette

We cashed in on yesterday’s play as the Blue Jays were in control of the game pretty much from start to finish after Pivetta had another terrible performance. We’re packing our bags and heading west to go out to Seattle for the Mariners game. Texas started the season hot but has quickly cooled down, and Seattle needs every win to keep up in their division. So who will take this one? Let’s break it down and find out.

Rangers:
The season didn’t necessarily start with wins, but there was a lot of promise with the way the Rangers were playing. Well, eight games later, that feels all but gone. Texas comes into this final game on a five-game losing streak and a 1-4 road record. They are sending Taylor Hearn to the hill today and will be hoping for a lot better performance than as of late from him. Hearn has given up more than two runs in 10 of his last 11 starts, and the Rangers have lost five consecutive games that he has started. The home runs and the walks have come down for Hearn this season, but he can’t seem to get the run total down.

Seattle:
Seattle is in the middle of a nine-game home stand and is currently 4-1 and is outscoring opponents 28-11. The weather seems to definitely be affecting the Rangers, as it did another team from Texas, the Astros. Especially these night games in Seattle, at this time of year, it’s still pretty cold. Marco Gonzales gets the nod for the Mariners tonight. He was shelled in his first start of the season but quickly bounced back in his last start against the Astros, only allowing one run and zero home runs after allowing three in his first start. Current Rangers hitters are hitting. Gonzales struck out 252 batters in 140 at bats.

Mariners vs Rangers Pick: Mariners ML
The Rangers looked like they just wanted to get out of Seattle last night, and not much will change in 24 hours. Gonzales has good numbers at home and against the Rangers. Look for Seattle to continue to play good baseball where they are comfortable and their opponents are not.

Same Game Parlay:
Mariners ML, Marcus Semien to record 2+ hits, Marcus Semin to record 2+ total bases and Marco Gonzales 5+ K’s.
