TNF Rams vs Seahawks Best Bets/Props, Oct. 7

Patrick Werkmeister

Contrary to normal, this Thursday night game features a hot NFC West divisional matchup between two highly skilled teams. From Lumen Field, quarterback Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks faceoff against the Los Angeles Rams and QB Matt Stafford. While I faded the Rams in their loss to the Cardinals last week, the Seahawks are coming off a crucial victory in San Francisco. With one squad coming off of a win and the other off of a loss, I like the hungrier team to earn the W. With an 8-4 record across college and pro football last week, these picks are now on a roll, so hedge or tail accordingly. Here’s what plays I like in this edition of TNF.

Rams (-2.5)
The opening line for this contest favored LA by just one point, but after some early betting action they were moved up to a two and a half-point road favorite. In their previous 5 games vs Seattle, Los Angeles is 4-1 ATS. Last week, the Rams suffered their first defeat to the only other undefeated team in the league. Although they couldn’t put that many points on the board, their offense kept pace with Arizona’s yardage where they only trailed them by 60 yards. On the other hand, the LA defense seemingly took the week off in their terrible performance. With their savvy head coach, Sean McVay, they are always in a good position to bounce back. Not only have the Rams covered the spread in 10 of their last 12 following a loss, but they are also a spectacular 6-1-2 ATS in their last 9 after allowing 30+ points. Before barely defeating the 49ers, Seattle was on a two-game losing skid where their offense has continued to struggle. Last week, they were doubled up in total yards on offense and did not record a first down on their first five possessions. It will be hard for them to bounce back with injuries to key players like Chris Carson, especially against this loaded defense. Take LA to at least win this game by a field goal.

Matthew Stafford Over 305.5 Passing Yards
A massive reason behind the Rams success so far is their new quarterback this season, Matthew Stafford. In what was considered a mediocre performance in Week 4, Stafford was still able to throw for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns. Despite a tough first four game schedule for the Rams, Stafford has thrown for 1,222 yards where he threw nearly 350 yards in two matches. With weapons like Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, their offense will be difficult to slow down no matter what defense they face. Kupp has certainly aided Stafford in touchdowns where he has caught 5 of his 11 TD passes. Additionally, Stafford has been very efficient in only throwing two interceptions. Not only does he have a rapport with his teammates, but he is clearly comfortable with the system coach McVay is running. He’s been a gunslinger who throws for big yardage his whole career, and now that he has weapons, unlike when he was in Detroit, he could make a run at MVP. Take him to hit this relatively easy mark against a blatantly poor Seahawks defense.

Darrell Henderson Anytime TD (-115)
Following a productive but limited workload coming off of an injury, Darrell Henderson looked healthy as ever running all over the Cardinals. Despite a rib injury, he totaled 116 yards from scrimmage on the day with five receptions. He took up an 89 percent share of snaps at the position in competition with fellow back Sony Michel. He’ll take on a similar workload in this one but will be expected to explode against this shoddy Seattle defense. After holding their first opponent to nearly 350 yards of offense, the Seahawks have let up over 425 yards on defense in each of their last three games. Specifically, their run defense has been tremendously awful where they let up 110 or more rushing yards in every game. Henderson has been an integral aspect of their offense and will absolutely be a part of the game plan vs Seattle. Slam his prop to run one in for what should be a party on offense
