We finished last week on a 5-0 run and look to start this week off right with this matchup. The books are showing a lot of faith in the Pistons, giving them the nod as a 2.5 favorite. The Pelicans have some injury concerns, and the Pistons come into this game almost at full health. So which team has the edge in this one? Let’s break it down and find out.

The Pels come into this game on the second half of a back-to-back after losing a close game to the Cavaliers last night. A team that the Pistons last beat by 10 points. This could have an influence on the line, but one game shouldn’t completely define the line here. The bigger piece is probably the back-to-back travel for the Pelicans and whether the best player will be on the floor in Ingram. He has missed five consecutive games, but reports state he has a good shot at returning tonight in Detroit. The Pelicans could really use him on the offensive end as they come in on a four-game losing streak, losing the last three by 10 points or more. Definitely, with a boost to the offense from a healthy enough Ingram, we could see this four-game skid come to a close.

We saw in the Cavs game that you can never count these guys out and never question their heart. This team may be young, but according to reports, the Cavs were laughing and mocking the Pistons before Detroit stormed back and played some of their best basketball of the season, sitting this Cavs team down and beating them by ten points. Now, that snapped a four-game losing streak of their own. The Pistons have gained a little ground in the defensive standings as they now rank 25th, allowing 111 per game. Offensively is where they have encountered the most issues, as they rank 29th, averaging only 102 per game. The Pelicans don’t average many more points, but with them getting the points here, it’s going to take another solid run for the Pistons to pull this one out.

The Pick: Pelicans +2.5
I’m taking the Pelicans with 2.5 points. The talent discrepancy is too much for me here. I think Ingram has a good shot at playing here and testing out his ankle as the Pelicans don’t play for another three days after this game. Take the Pelicans +2.5 points.
