ORIOLES VS BREWERS APRIL 12

Kyle Barrette

The MLB season is in full swing and the NBA playoffs are about to tip off. Who said the holidays were the best time of year? It’s not much fun being an Orioles fan though, as these times of the year can be pretty rough. The O’s picked up their first win of the season yesterday saving themselves from an 0-4 start. For the Brewers it’s been an awful start, after yesterday’s loss they dropped to 1-3. Both teams luckily have a long season ahead, but which one takes the biggest step forward today? Let’s break it down and find out..

Baltimore:
The Orioles were never expected to do much this season. Avoiding 100 losses was probably somewhere on the to-do list for them. Playing in the AL East, that is going to be difficult for them to avoid. As a team, their batting average is .230 in the early season. So far this season, that has been the problem. Their run production has been bad. They have scored a total of six runs combined in their first four games. It’s looking like Spenser Watkins is going to get the nod today for Baltimore. Watkins did not have a good 2021 season. He was 2-7 with an ERA over eight.

Brewers:
This is not where the reigning NL Central champs saw themselves before the season started. It’s been both sides of the ball for the Brewers so far.  Their pitching was hit hard by the Cubs, and their offense is struggling to produce runs. They have only scored nine runs over their first four games and have been shut out twice. Lauer will be on the mound tonight who had a good 2021, going 7-5 with an ERA just over three and punching out 117 batters. He has a good chance to get 2022 off to a good start against this Baltimore offense who is struggling to get anything going.

Orioles vs Brewers Pick: Under 9 Runs
So far, all of the Orioles’ games have gone under so far. You have two offenses that are really struggling to start the season. A veteran pitcher in Lauer who should have a good game here and not allow much in the way of runs. Take the Under.
