It was an easy win last night with the Suns. We move on to tonight’s top pick. We head to Washington, where the Nuggets will be coming to town to face the Wizards. Washington is on the outside looking in, sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, one spot out of the playoffs. Denver is currently the sixth seed in the loaded Western Conference and is within two games of falling to the seventh seed or moving up to the fourth. So who has the advantage here? Let’s break down this matchup.

We all knew it was going to be tough when Beal had a premature end to his season, but it’s been a little worse than expected given the supporting cast the team has. You would expect a better performance even without him. Washington is 2-5 this month, and the two wins came over the Pistons and the Pacers. Washington is riding a four-game losing streak into this matchup. The Wizards are struggling on both sides of the ball, but their offense sticks out a little more, as their defense has been bad for multiple years. Looking at the teams they played this month, you can see some low-scoring games against some bad defensive teams. This does not bode well for them tonight, as Denver is ranked 12th in defense and could give this team problems all night.

The Nuggets have been playing competitive basketball and are 5-3 in the month of March. They snapped a two-game losing streak after a horrible first quarter against the Sixers. They came back and held them off to secure the win. We always hear about the Nuggets and their home court advantage because of the altitude, but they are 3-3 at home this month and 2-0 on the road. The Nuggets do have some guys injured, but it looks like Green and Gordon should be able to go in this one, and Murray has been assigned to the G league to begin his comeback.

Nuggets vs Wizards Pick: Nuggets -5.5
Denver knows that they need to keep winning as the race in the West is too tight. The Wizards are struggling and are being put on a platter by the high-scoring Nuggets. Washington has struggled to score, and that won’t change against this physical defense. Take the Nuggets -5.5.
