NFL CHRISTMAS DAY: COLTS VS CARDINALS BEST BETS/PROPS
With two NFL games scheduled on this holiday, this primetime matchup will be the cherry on top of this terrific slate of games. The Cardinals opened this game as five-point home favorites, but the line has tumbled all the way down as the Cardinals are just a slim two and a half-point favorites. Although Indianapolis is an impressive 5-0 ATS in their past five games on the road, Arizona has been one of the league’s best ATS where they are 8-3 in their last 11. Last week, the Cardinals were defeated in stunning fashion by the Detroit Lions 30-12 whereas the Colts pulled off an incredible win against the New England Patriots. Although this matchup features two teams currently going in opposite directions, the Cardinals are still in full control of the NFC, and they won’t want to give that power up by losing this one. Additionally, this Indy squad has flaws of their own. Although the Cardinals have not been as productive on offense with the absence of vital players like DeAndre Hopkins, they will get some slight relief with players returning from COVID or injury. If Arizona stays out of their own way on offense, unlike last week, they should be able to handle this one-dimensional Colts team. Although this Colts offensive unit is among the most elite in the NFL, they are a one-trick pony where running back Jonathan Taylor averages 18 carries a game. Take Arizona minus the points, where they look to bounce back and put themselves back on the map.
Nyheim Hines Over 16.5 Receiving Yards
After a receiving touchdown in last week’s game vs New England, Nyheim Hines is one of the premier receiving running backs in the NFL. With the amount of targets, he gets per game, it will really only take one catch for him to possibly hit this mark. Nyheim is as solid a second string running back you could ask for, where in 14 games he has 33 receptions for nearly 300 yards. While Indy is known for its reliance on star back Jonathan Taylor, Hines serves as a great substitute for the pass or the run. Although the Cardinals hold fairly good numbers against the pass this season, Nyheim is known more for his running after a checkdown. However, in Week 15 the Cards defense got their doors blown off all around in the loss to the Lions. With an average of nearly four targets a game, coach Frank Reich makes sure he keeps this playmaker heavily involved. With his ability to run sharp routes that get him in open space to shred defenses, this prop has great value given his reliability. Take Nyheim Hines to slam the over on his receiving prop.
Zach Ertz Any Time TD (+220)
Following a productive outing in his last performance, Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz should be a big part of the passing attack following injuries on their offense. With wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins out for the season, Ertz has played a big role in picking up the slack in his absence. So far, he has caught a modest 52 balls on a solid five touchdown receptions. However, he does have nearly 80 targets in a pass-heavy system, so he has been a big part of their offense. Ertz is a great red zone threat and with his touchdown prop looking this juicy, it must be taken advantage of. With only a few guys to look to, he will be a main passing target for Kyler Murray down in the red zone. Although the Colts boast as one of the best pass defenses in the NFL, it will be challenging to halt an offense of this caliber. He has had some monstrous outings this year where last week he was targeted a season high 11 times. With how sure handed he is, he’ll make teams pay that give him any space at all. Expect Ertz to have an overall good night and take him to score one for Arizona.
