Even though these are the dog days of the NBA season, these games have proven to be quite profitable if you’re able to spot the hotter and more motivated team. For this interconference matchup, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors host James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets. Last game out, the Nets struggled at home again without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving against the LA Lakers, where they were defeated 106-96, whereas Golden State was able to defend their home floor and get the W vs the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both of these teams are led by their own superstar and that’s why they’re near the top of their conference. However, during the midseason grind, players and teams alike can lose their rhythm due to the harsh schedule of an 82-game season. With this in mind, here are the best bets and player props for this NBA Thursday contest.

Nets (+5.5)
The opening line for this match originally favored the Warriors by six and a half-points but they are now listed as five and a half-point home favorites. Brooklyn has been a dreadful 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games but are also 7-2 ATS in their previous nine matchups vs the Warriors. However, Golden State is an impressive 5-1 SU in their last six games played and 7-1 in their last eight home games. With the Nets going through some midseason struggles due to injury, without Kevin Durant, the Warriors could be more than Brooklyn could handle right now. However, since they are on the road, the Nets will have their superstar point guard Kyrie Irving starting in tonight’s game. Although their offense has been alternating between good and bad performances, the Nets should get a boost from seeing Irving again, where he has averaged over 28 points per game in his last five contests. However, they will have to overcome the Splash Brothers now that Klay Thompson is slowly coming back into regular form. Nonetheless, he is still on a minute cap and will be up against a fully healthy, rested Kyrie Irving alongside James Harden. Although the Nets have been in a bit of a rough patch, both of these squads are among the best in their conference, and I like the Nets in this spot to bounce back from their loss against the Lakers. Take Kyrie and the Brooklyn Nets plus the points vs Golden State.

Kyrie Irving Over 25.5 Points
Following a 30-point performance in his last outing vs the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kyrie Irving has shown he can still keep a steady rhythm despite sitting out a vast majority of games. Kyrie is averaging almost 24 points and nearly 6 assists and has had 30 or more points in 7 of his last 10 performances. Kyrie has been shouldering the load in each appearance, where even as an occasional starter he could still be an All Star. With Kevin Durant being injured for a prolonged time period, Irving has been able to produce the lion’s share of points and has been playing his best basketball. However, the Warriors are one of the best defenses and have allowed the 3rd lowest points per game in the NBA, so he’ll have to push the pace in this one to get his daily dose of baskets. This prop has amazing value given his ridiculous numbers in the last month. While he has a low of 9 points this season, I’m going to ride the hot hand and take him to once again produce at an efficient rate. Take Kyrie Irving to score more than his total points prop with ease.

Klay Thompson Over 16.5 Points
After scoring 23 points in a heightened role against Minnesota, Klay Thompson is almost back in peak form now that his return from an Achilles injury is under his belt. Thompson is averaging 16 points and 3 rebounds per game since his return and has even added new elements to his game. Klay has been the steady sidekick with Steph Curry ever since he got drafted and impacts their team in intangible ways as one of the best two-way players in the league. With no real big man in the middle, Brooklyn should have a hard time stopping Klay getting whatever shot he wants. However, the Nets have allowed the 4th lowest points per game in the NBA, so he’ll have to push the pace in this one to get his. This prop has amazing value given his numbers last time out. While he has a low of 11 points this season, I’m going to ride the hot hand and take his points prop as his minutes on the court increase. Take Klay Thompson to score more than his total points prop and put on a show.
