NBA BEST BETS, JAN. 13

Kyle Barrette

Switching it up today and putting in two of our top plays for tonight’s action. The losses of Green for the Warriors and Holiday and Hill for the Bucks will be felt for each team. In our second play, Who can stop this Grizzlies team? Are they poised to take the number one spot this postseason? Let’s break down both these games and see where our edge is.

Warriors +1.5
Klay is back, and now things can get back to normal. Klay has been rusty as expected and getting back up to game speed is going to take some time. Both of these teams have shown the ability to score at will, but where they start to separate is on the defensive side of the ball. The Warriors allow the fewest points in the NBA, while the Bucks’ defense has been leaky as of late and they rank 16th overall. The most concerning thing on the defensive end for the Bucks is that they are 29th in three-point defense, and we all know the three ball is going to be flying tonight for the Warriors. Take the better defense and the Warriors at +1.5.

Grizzlies -4.5
It’s been an undefeated January so far for the Grizzlies as they have won all six games, including wins over several playoff bound teams. Not only did the Grizzlies come away with the wins, but they were also dominant as they won five of the six games by eight points or more. The Grizzlies come in with the third best offense in the league, putting up 112 per game. Their defense is league average, ranking 15th and allowing 108 points per game. Looking at the Timberwolves, they rank 19th in defense, allowing 109 per game and 11th on offense, putting up 110 Pts per game. Some of these numbers for the Timberwolves are due to recent inflation, as this month they have played the Thunder twice, a stripped-down Clippers team, the Rockets, and the Pelicans. None of those teams are in the same league as the Grizzlies. Expect to see the difference tonight and take the Grizzlies -4.5.

Same Game Parlay
Warriors +1.5, Warriors to win by 1-10 Pts, Steph Curry to score 25+ Pts, Grizzlies -4.5, Grizzlies to win by 1-10 Pts and Karl-Anthony Towns to score 25+ Pts.
