Following a subpar 1-2 performance for Sunday’s NFL edition of best bets, this Monday night game is a great opportunity to bounce back. For this interconference matchup, Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins travel to the Big Easy where they face off against Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints. Last week, the Saints pulled off a stunning shutout victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion Buccaneers, 9-0. Similarly, the Dolphins secured a victory over their division rival, the New York Jets. With both teams at 7-7, they find themselves at a critical juncture in this game that will make or break their playoff dreams. With this in mind, here is what I love about this MNF action.

The Saints opened this game as three and a half-point road favorites, but the line has flipped due to injuries and COVID-19 designations and they are now three point underdogs. Although Miami is 5-1 ATS in their last six games, coach Sean Payton and the Saints bring their play up a level in December where they are 7-2 ATS in their past nine December games. While the Dolphins have shown much improvement since their 1-7 start to the year, the competition they faced in that six-game winning streak is laughable. This will definitely be their first test on both sides of the ball. With QBs Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian out for the Saints due to COVID, New Orleans will have to rely on rookie quarterback Ian Book. If he can take care of the ball and let star runner Alvin Kamara lead them on offense, they have a great chance of beating this overhyped Miami squad. Although this Dolphins defensive unit has been a serviceable bunch this season, they have had some inconsistencies where they have been scorched on that side of the ball. If the defense plays even remotely like they did against Tom Brady last week they should easily handle Miami. Take the Saints plus the points, where they look to cool off the Dolphins.

Jaylen Waddle Over 63.5 Receiving Yards
Following outstanding performances in his last two outings, rookie receiver Jaylen Waddle should have another very productive game in the passing attack. He has totaled a whopping 227 yards receiving on 18 receptions in the past two weeks. Additionally, he has 115 targets and nearly leads the league in receptions with 90 catches already on the year, so he has been a big part of their offense. Waddle has shown he will have a fruitful career and with his receiving total this low, it must be taken advantage of. With fellow receiver DeVante Parker returning, he can at least lighten the defensive load that will be put on Waddle with his complimentary play. While the Saints rank in the top five of overall pass defense, Waddle has been productive no matter the opposition, so expect him to find some form of success. Waddle has had some monstrous outings this year where he’s had two outings with 10+ receptions and is on pace to have his first season with 1,000 yards receiving. With how big of a threat he is out wide and in the slot, he’ll make teams pay that give him any space at all. Expect Jaylen to stay hot and have an overall big night and take him to get it done on the receiving end.

Alvin Kamara Any Time TD (+110)
With the limited number of options for the Browns, they will definitely run their offense through superstar running back Alvin Kamara. While he was unable to get it going in Week 15 versus the Bucs, he will definitely see a lot of action tonight where he may even get some reps at quarterback. So far on the season, Kamara has a modest total of 8 total touchdowns, but they will really be leaning on him tonight with most offensive starters out. With over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage in just ten games played, he always finds a way to be productive and he is due to reach the end zone. The Dolphins are currently an average rush defense, and they will have a tough time with the most dynamic back in the league. With a couple players on their defense out due to COVID, that should allow Alvin to be productive at the very least. Take him to score in what should be an interesting game.
