We cashed in yesterday’s game just like we drew it up. Low scoring and the Rays take the lead in the latter stages of the game. Today we’re headed to Philly for a divisional matchup between the Phillies and the Mets. The Mets have started the season as the best team in baseball and the Phillies have struggled out of the gates. Will the Mets keep it going or will the Phillies get it going? Let’s break it down and find out.

The Mets unfortunately finished their home stand by getting romped by the defending champion Braves. They are headed to Philly, where they will begin a seven-game road trip. Most of the time, you try to line up your ace against the opposing team’s ace. This way, your team has, in theory, an equal chance going into the game. Well, this might show you what the Mets’ brass thinks of Aaron Nola as they send Walker to the mound for tonight’s game. They might not fear Nola, who has been borderline an ace for the last few years now, but has already seen the Mets twice this season and it’s been an advantage for the Mets both times. In each outing, the Mets were able to score three runs off Nola and had home runs in each game. Current Mets hitters have a .276 average against Nola in 250 at-bats, so it’s safe to say they have seen it all.

It’s got to be a rollercoaster being a Phillies fan. Expectations were sky high entering the year after the offseason moves, and you come out and fall on your face, but sit with the anticipation that this team is too talented to not turn it around. The Phillies have lost three in a row after getting swept in a shortened series against the Rangers, not the momentum you want coming into a series with the hottest team in baseball. The Mets are sending Walker to the hill, who has only made two starts, and it’s only against the Phillies. Walker has pitched seven innings of two-hit shutout baseball against the Phillies this season. Walker has a .252 batting average against current Phillies batters in over 135 at bats.

Mets vs Phillies Pick: Mets ML
It is a surprise how the market has reacted here. You have the best team in baseball getting + money and it ballooned from +120 to +147 against a guy who’s gotten hit twice already this season with a team struggling to score. Give me the Mets ML.
