We will continue to stay hot on the court tonight as March begins. With an active 10-2 run, I look to stretch it to 11 tonight. At the beginning of the season, you might have thought the Lakers and Mavs would be in a playoff matchup. Fast forward to now, and the Lakers are on the verge of not making the playoffs. The Lakers need wins in the worst way, and tonight won’t be an easy one. Can they get the job done? Let’s break down this matchup and find out.

You can blame the injuries, which they most likely will, as to why this was a failed season in LA. The truth is this team doesn’t play well together. I’m not sure what happened to Russell, but it’s bad and hard to watch. The starting lineups they have to roll out on a nightly basis resemble those of a below-average team’s bench. Starting the second half of the season with a loss to the Clippers and then nearly a 30-point loss to the Pelicans, the alarms are going off in Los Angeles right now. The team is full of veteran scorers, but they also don’t play defense, which coupled with injuries, is the reason they are in this position right now.

Dallas doesn’t score a ton of points on average, but they probably won’t need to in this game. The Lakers play some of the worst defense in the league, while the Mavs play some of the best. Sure, this game is going to be hyped up as Luka vs. LeBron, but the highlight reel is going to be a lot easier to make for Luka than for LeBron. The Mavs showed their grit by going toe to toe with the Jazz and then following that up with a big come from behind win against the Warriors. The defense is going to be the key for the Mavs tonight. The Lakers’ poor defense will give more open looks to the Mavs, but if they can play their style of defense effectively, it’s going to be a long night for whoever is on the floor for the Lakers.

Mavericks vs Lakers prediction: Mavs -5
I have no trust in this Lakers team. This Mavs team can move the ball and, against the defensive effort of the Lakers, they will find easy looks and should be able to lock down on the other side of the ball. Take the Mavs -5.

Same Game Parlay:
Mavericks -5, Luka Doncic First Basket, Doncic Over 31.5 Pts, Doncic Over 2.5 Made Threes, Jalen Brunson to score 20+ Pts and Mavericks to win by 1-10 pts.
