Starting the week off on the diamond we’re going to Philly for today’s play, where they host the Marlins. The Phillies took off after firing their manager, Joe Girardi. Can they keep up the winning ways? The Marlins look to inch closer to a .500 record with a win tonight. Let’s break this game down and see who has the edge.

They have won nine of their last 10 games. Maybe that was the spark that they needed. Surprisingly, their current run ranks them third in the NL East, as the Braves are on an even longer 12-game winning streak and the Mets lead the division. The Main reason for the Phillies’ run is that the bats have finally come alive. In six of their nine wins, they scored five or more runs. Today they send Eflin to the hill, who has been up and down for them this season. Eflin has only been beat up in a few spots this season, and one of them was by this Marlins team. A game where he only went four innings, allowing six hits and four runs. Even looking back to last season, he struggled against Miami.

Miami is 6-4 over its last 10 games. They had their five-game winning streak snapped and have now lost two in a row. The Marlins have also been hitting the ball well and scoring runs as of late. They have also scored five or more runs in six of their last 10 games. Trevor Rodgers takes the mound for the Marlins today. The rails have been coming off for Rodgers, who started the year hot but has since cooled off. Rogers has allowed 16 runs over his last five starts, and the Marlins are 2-3 in those games. Rodgers has been allowing a lot of long balls too. He has had six homers hit in his last five starts, not something that bodes well against a power lineup like the Phillies.

Marlins vs Phillies Pick: Over 8.5 Runs.
I think the over is the obvious play here. Games have gone over in seven of 11 starts for Rodgers and seven of 10 starts for Eflin. Rodgers has been giving up homers, which will prove to be deadly against this Phillies lineup that has been smashing the ball. Eflin has struggled against the Marlins, who have been hitting well, so expect them to score as well.

Same Game Parlay:
Over 8.5 Runs, Kyle Schwarber to hit a HR, Nick Castellanos to record 2+ hits and 2+ RBIs.
