MARINERS VS NATIONALS JULY 12

Kyle Barrette

New week, new streaks, and with that being said, I’m seeing a line that makes almost no sense. So if there is a trap, I’m stepping right into it because I don’t see an aspect of this game that offsets the price I’m getting. I’m, of course, talking about the Mariners and Nationals game. What’s going on here? Glad you asked. Let’s get into it.

Mariners:
One of baseball’s hottest team’s right now bet you didn’t think we would be saying that two weeks ago, but that’s how quick baseball can turn around. The winners of eight in a row, which half was a four-game sweep of the Blue Jays, now start a series with the lowly Nationals. When Flexen takes the hill for the Mariners, he has pitched well despite the Mariners’ struggles up until recently. Flexen has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last eight starts. With another quality start from Flexen, the Mariners have a good shot at extending their streak to nine.

Nationals:
The Nationals come into this one needing a win. They have lost four straight and nine of their last 10. The sad part is that the Nats are competitive in a lot of those games. Most of the losses are by one or two runs. This team has a bad record but can still punish teams that don’t take them seriously. Gray takes the hill for the Nats today. He has also pitched well this season. His strikeout numbers are continuing to rise as he has taken a step forward this season. His home run allowance is the only glaring issue. He has given up four homers in his last three starts. For an offense that struggles to score, that will not constitute many wins for either him or the team.

Mariners vs Nationals Pick: Mariners ML.
This one will probably be low-scoring throughout the first half with these two on the hill. The Mariners will take yet another close one in the end.

Same Game Parlay:
Mariners ML, Juan Soto to hit a HR, Chris Flexen Over 3.5 K’s, Ty France to record 2+ hits and Eugenio Suarez to record an RBI.
