The Sixers continue to skid, and it is becoming more and more apparent that this team does not have much of an identity without Embiid. Philly is just 1-4 this season without the all-star and things don’t look like they will get any easier when they face one of the NBA’s top teams in the Jazz. Utah also will look to right the ship as they have lost four of their last five including a seven-point loss to the lowly Magic. Which team will break their streak? Let’s dive into this matchup

Draft Kings NBA Promotion

The loss of Embiid is haunting this team right now. The offense is trying to find a new identity without him and they’re not doing a terrible job as the offense has been able to produce for the most part at least, keep games pretty close. The issue comes on the defensive side of the ball, as they have allowed 13 more points on average over their last three games than their season average. Without Embiid holding down the paint, teams are less afraid to head to the rim and are relying less on jump shots. This is going to be a tall task for Philly defensively considering the all-star talent that is on the Jazz roster. Philly’s offense has been holding their own, but here they’re going to have to outdo themselves if they’re going to want to hang around in this one. This is because their defense is definitely going to be tested throughout this whole game.

The Jazz have been stuttering lately, losers of four out of five are highly uncharacteristic of this team. A home game on extended rest against a team that is struggling to keep their heads above water until their star can clear the Covid protocol, might be just what Utah needs to get back on track themselves. Utah’s offense has been uncharacteristically off the past five games as they have averaged five to seven points below their season average of 110 points per game. The Jazz will look to drive into the paint and pile on the points with easy buckets and trips to the line. During Philly’s skid they have been allowing 53+ points in the paint per game and Utah is a top 10 team scoring in the paint. Utah is shooting close to 8% less three’s than last year but make no mistake if Philly tries to over commit to stuffing the paint, the Jazz have the talent to light it up from behind the arc.

Jazz vs Sixers the Pick: Jazz team total over 113.
Utah is a team that does not take playing the way they have been lightly; this team has goals of contending for the title this season. With extra rest, a home game and a weakened opponent that has had trouble stopping teams. Take the Jazz to go over 113 Total points.
