We finally drop another after the Grizzlies have one of their worst shooting nights of the season and barely make it over the 100 point mark. We jump right back in and head over to the west for tonight’s matchup. The Jazz are fully healthy and the Pelicans have what they hope is a new life with McCollum after the trade deadline. Who has the edge in this matchup? Let’s break down both sides.

The Jazz are fully healthy, and that should put the league on notice since this is one solid team. Utah is tied for the most points scored per game with 114. They also sport a top-10 defense, allowing 107 points per game. Utah is undefeated after the break, and that includes wins over the Mavericks and the Suns. Most people would want to bring up that they had to go to overtime against the Rockets, but after two grueling games against two of the league’s top teams, it was a let-down spot in which they still won. This game comes in the middle of a five-game road trip for Utah, a team that has done well on the road (17-12 straight up and 14-14 ATS). I think Utah matches up well defensively, and if they can get Ingram or McCullom off just a little bit, it could be a long night for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans come into this one having won three straight. Not only has it been three straight, it has been three straight blowouts. They beat the Suns by 15, the Lakers by 28, and the Kings by 30. The Suns were the only team to score more than 100 points, and they only scored 102. The question is, where was this play all season for this team? Currently, the Pelicans rank 24th in points scored per game at 107, although they have averaged 120 in their last three games. Defensively, they are 14th in the league, allowing 109 points per game on the season, with the last three games allowing less than 100.The Pelicans are up against their biggest test over that three-game stretch as the Suns were down a few guys and the Lakers and Kings were terrible.

Pelicans vs Jazz pick: Jazz -4
I don’t discredit what the Pelicans have done. Anytime you beat multiple teams by 15/20+ points, no matter if they are awful or not, it’s something to take into consideration. Everything comes back to earth, and I think Utah is the team that will do it. Consider the Jazz at -4.
