HOW TO WATCH WEEK 4 OF THE NFL SEASON

Mike Shara

Just three weeks into the season and there are only five undefeated teams remaining (and five teams yet to win). Raise your hand if you predicted that two of those five undefeated teams would be the Carolina Panthers and the Las Vegas Raiders (…still sounds funny). By the way, if you raised your hand as one of the few folks who thought those two teams would be among the unbeaten at this point, you are either an alien or a liar.

Week three delivered the goods, with the games that were expected to be good generally living up to the hype. The 49ers/Packers game came down to the final seconds, Justin Tucker set an NFL record with a 66-yard field goal to beat Detroit as time expired, the Rams held on at home against Tampa Bay, and the Chargers capitalized on rare Patrick Mahomes turnovers to defeat the Chiefs in Kansas City.  Seven favorites covered and seven underdogs not only covered the spread but won their games outright.

Week four has several intriguing matchups for bettors and for fans. The undefeated Panthers face their biggest test so far, travelling to Dallas to face the Cowboys. The two remaining undefeated teams in the NFC West clash as the Cardinals travel to L.A. to face the fearsome Rams defense. Oh, and apparently there is a bit of a homecoming this week when the Buccaneers visit Foxboro. You may hear a bit about it.  Apparently, this Brady fellow had some success there during his few seasons in New England, although I’m sure no one in the media will talk about it too much or ask Brady or Bill Belichick any dumb questions about it. Oh, and Week four may also mark the final time that the Chicago Bears are favored against any team. Ever.
