DODGERS VS GIANTS AUGUST 2

Kyle Barrette

We’re taking a trip to Cali to start the new week. We have a divisional matchup between the Dodgers and the Giants. The Dodgers have a comfortable lead in this division, and the Giants are trying to make up some ground to sneak into the playoffs. Can the Giants turn things around? Or will the Dodgers continue to pile on their lead?

Dodgers:
No surprise here; the Dodgers are in first place and have been rolling for some time now. It’s not much of a surprise that you haven’t heard anything from them at the deadline and you probably won’t hear any major moves from them this season. In today’s matchup, they send Anderson to the hill. As if they needed more pitching, they found it. The Dodgers are 14-3 when Anderson takes the hill, and he himself has accumulated a 10-1 record. He has allowed only five runs combined in his last five starts. Two weeks ago, he faced these same Giants, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out six. The way the Giants have been struggling, this could be another long night.

Giants:
I can see why this team would be willing to give up a lot for Soto, as they need offense in the worst way. In nine out of their last 10 games, they have scored less than five runs. Over that 10-game span, they are only 3-7. Alex Wood takes the hill for the Giants tonight. The Giants are 10-10 in his starts, and Wood himself has a 7-8 record. Wood has pitched well most of the season; it’s just that the Giants can’t score him any runs to get wins. He also pitched in that Dodgers series two weeks ago and allowed two runs on two home runs and was only able to go four innings. The Giants are going to need something similar to hang around in this one.

Dodgers vs Giants Pick: Dodgers ML
Wood will give the Giants a solid effort, but it won’t be enough, especially since their offense won’t be able to put up much of anything against Anderson. Take the Dodgers at their low price.

Same Game Parlay:
Dodgers ML, Tyler Anderson 6+ Strikeouts, Trea Turner to record 2+ hits, Tyler Anderson Over 4.5 Strikeouts, Alex Wood Under 5.5 Strikeouts and Freddie Freeman to record 2+ RBI’s.
