Degens Only: Friday Plays, June 25
It was quite the night in sports. We had three pitchers combine to no hit one of the best teams in baseball. There was a huge upset in the NHL as the Canadians beat the Knights in overtime to head to the Stanley cup finals. We also had playoff basketball where the Clippers played for their lives and got the series to within one game of being tied up. All of these sports heat up as we inch closer to life back on the gridiron. I know I’m ready for some football; I’m also ready to jump into today’s top plays, let’s go!
Ice Trae has No Chill: Trae Young over 30.5 points
This man is out of his mind point blank period. He has averaged 29+ throughout the playoffs and dropped 48 in the first game of this series to help his team take the win. I can’t bet against this team I just can no longer bring myself to do it. We all know the Hawks are going to need Trae to be every bit as cold each game of this series as the Bucks are the best team that they have had to face yet and 48 from Trae barley got the job done so a similar effort is going to be needed to continue winning. The Hawks want the ball in Trae’s hands, as he’s either scoring or drawing attention that he can make a quick pass to his open teammate for the bucket. You’re going to see and hear his name early and often take Trae Young over 30.5 points.
Big Birds: Blue Jays team total over 6
By now it’s no secret that the Orioles are a bad team and that the Blue Jays love hitting in their temporary home in Buffalo. The Jays are averaging just over five runs per game at home so far this season. Harvey has been shelled basically every start over the last two months and he was hit most recently by these same Blue Jays. In that game he only lasted four innings before getting pulled after giving up four runs on nine hits. The Blue Jays hit Harvey for .322 in that game and he has allowed opponents to hit a combined .373 against him in the month of June. We’re taking Harvey and this bad Orioles bull pen to get hit by this hot Jays offense. Take the Blue Jays team total over 6
Pound the Padres: Padres Team Total over 5
We all know that this Dbacks team is awful on the road and awful in general. I have lost count but I believe the streak is up to 23 games in a row they have lost on the road now. Martin pitching for Arizona tonight flips between starting and coming out of the pen as the Dbacks scramble to find anything that works. Martin is not the answer, in his two starts he has given up nine runs and three homeruns along with a 7/8 BB/K ratio. The Padres will send Paddack to the hill that has had his own struggles but is still lightyears ahead of Martin. This Padres offense should be able to do whatever they want in this one. Take the Padres to score early and often and play Padres team total over 5.
Riding the Rays: Rays ML
The Rays have been one of the best home teams so far this season. Couple this with the fact they get a team who has to come cross country, with some banged up power hitters, and a bullpen little leaguers could go yard against I’d day there in pretty good shape. Kitteredge will be the opener for the Ryas and he basically has been unhittable most of the season and hasn’t given up more than one run in any of his appearances this season. The Angels will struggle to adapt and score in the opening game here, while the Rays should be able to feast on the below average Angels bull pen. Take the Rays ML.
