CUBS VS PIRATES JUNE 23
Another pretty easy victory yesterday as the game remained low-scoring till the end of the game. Today we head to Pittsburgh, where the Pirates are taking on the Cubs. Looking at these two teams that are at the bottom of the league, but looking at the stats between them, we have a play that will be profitable.
Chicago is currently 3-7 in their last ten games and is struggling to win. Another team that has been struggling to score runs is the Atlanta Hawks, as they have only scored 13 runs in their last five games prior to yesterday. Yesterday they finally broke out, but they faced a pitcher that should be nowhere near the majors because he is that bad and has been for years. Today they send Steele to the mound, which, outside of one start, has been solid all season. Steele had one start against the Pirates this season, where he only went three innings but gave up three runs.
The Pirates had won three in a row before yesterday’s loss. This team has been driving in a lot of runs recently, with 28 in their last five games prior to yesterday’s game. Former Cub Jose Quintana takes the hill for the Pirates today. He has done okay over his last five starts, not allowing too many runs, but could be a little bit better. The long hall is slowly becoming a concern as he has allowed five in just his last two starts. Quintana has been good in two starts against his old team already this season, only allowing a combined three runs.
Cubs vs Pirates Pick: Under 8.5 Runs
This spot has a lot of the makings of yesterday’s play. The Cubs exploded for 14 runs and now have to come back and face someone who they have struggled against. Steele has been solid for the Cubs and should continue to provide five to seven innings of good work. Neither team used quality guys from the pen in yesterday’s game, so the solid arms should be available.
Same Game Parlay:
Under 8.5 Runs, Justin Steele Over 4.5 K’s, Wilson Contreras to record 2+ hits, Yan Gomes to record 2+ RBI’s and Patrick Wisdom to record a run.
