This will be the third meeting between these two teams in the young season and will serve as the rubber match as each team has won a game. Each side has come away with a blowout victory over the other, with the Clippers winning game one by 30 and the Blazers winning the second game by 19. Bookmakers have seemingly given up on trying to figure out a spread for these two and have just settled on three points. Both teams come in on winning streaks. The Blazers have won their last two and the Clippers have won their last four after a terrible 1-4 start to the season. Let’s get into who is going to win the rubber match.

Draft Kings NBA Promotion

Portland comes into this game with recent victories over the gritty Pacers and a shorthanded Lakers team. Portland comes in ranked eighth in points per game at 110, 10 spots above the Clippers. In the first game, Lillard struggled going 4-15 from the floor and 0-8 from three and thus so did the Blazers offense. In game two, it was a different story, and it was the Clippers entire team besides George who dropped 42 who struggled. Portland has struggled on the road to start the season; they are one of three teams that have not won a game on the road, and they have lost three of their four games by 10 points or more. The shooting woes have traveled with Portland as three of their four road games have also gone under the total. Defense on the road for Portland has also been a problem; they have let three of four opponents shoot over 50% from the field and the fourth team shot 47%. Portland has a lot of work to do in order to clear up all these issues on the road.

LA has managed to turn their season around and just in time as fans in LA don’t stay quiet for long and it could’ve gotten bad fast. The Clippers have to spread the ball around and recently they have been doing a good job, hence the four-game winning streak. This is still a talented team despite all the injuries. When Paul George becomes literally the whole offense, the team struggles and that is what we saw the last time they played. The Blazers lost by double digits; Paul had 42 points and the next highest scorer was Kennard and he only had 16. It looks like Ty Lou has turned this team around, the ball has been spread out and will continue to be the game plan moving forward. This four-game win streak has been against average to below average teams and it will be interesting to see how and if this team reacts against a playoff caliber team like Portland. The Clippers have been locking down on defense and have catapulted into the fifth spot in opponents points per game, only allowing 102 per game, which could make for a long night for Portland.

Portland vs Clippers the Pick: Clippers -3
The Clippers have been playing good basketball lately, the competition has been average, and no doubt will be taken up a notch in this matchup, but we documented how poorly Portland has played on the road and they have shown no signs of fixing those mistakes. Ride the momentum and small spread with the Clippers here.
