Finally, we arrive at the pinnacle of the college football season where the two best teams will duke it out for the national title. This year’s championship matchup will be in Lucas Oil Stadium from Indianapolis, where Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide take on Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldogs. In their last game, Alabama blew out the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Cotton Bowl, 27-6, and Georgia shut down the Michigan Wolverines 34-11. While the Dogs and Kirby Smart bounced back in the playoffs, Nick Saban and the Tide are in a whole league of their own where they seemingly outmatch every other team in the country. With this in mind, here is what I love and why I love it for this National Championship game.

Alabama (+2.5)
The Dawgs opened this game as two and a half-point favorites, and that betting line has remained steady at Georgia -2.5. While Bama is an impressive 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games as an underdog, the Bulldogs are 0-7 SU in their last seven vs the Crimson Tide. Additionally, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart has defeated his former mentor Nick Saban just once in his tenure at Georgia. While the Dawgs squandered Michigan’s hopes and dreams of a national title, this was really the only impressive victory for Georgia. Last year, Bama won it all and they’re looking to be the first team ever to go back-to-back. So, after being an underdog to even make the College Football Playoff heading into championship week, Alabama finds themselves again as the underdog to win the national championship as the playoff’s top seed. Bryce Young enters this game with 4,322 passing yards, 43 touchdown passes and only four interceptions in 2021. He will seek similar results this game with their electric passing offense featuring speedy receiver Jameson Williams, while the Bulldogs secondary might be the weakest group on their defense. The last time Vegas oddsmakers gave Nick Saban’s team points, they embarrassed Georgia in the SEC Championship. With Bama clearly playing their best football of the year, expect to see the Tide put on a dazzling display where they should have full control in this one. Take Alabama to win this contest outright in this edition of the National Championship.

Over (52.5)
In what should be a high-scoring affair, Vegas oddsmakers have listed the total points for this game at 52.5. Georgia’s defense has been stifling offenses all season, but the Tide have been their kryptonite where they dropped 44 points against them in the SEC Championship game. Additionally, the total has gone over in 9 out of the last 10 meetings between these programs. While both teams have the best defenses in the country, these passing-offenses will be working at a fast pace. The Bama defense has allowed 30+ points in a playoff game twice, one of which they lost, so expect them to possibly struggle to contain the Georgia offense. However, the Georgia defense has been one of the best in the nation in points per game and total yardage but expect them to at least have some minor problems vs this electric Bama offense. Nevertheless, this year is no different for the Tide where they will put an emphasis on moving the ball and scoring points, rather than relying on their defense. Don’t let this number fool you and take the over.
