An old Eastern Conference rivalry gets renewed tonight in Miami. These teams could not be moving in further directions fast enough. Boston has been all over media reports this week about the culture of the team and tension between players and it still doesn’t look good. Miami on the other hand had high expectations coming into this season and so far they have lived up to all of them. Kyle Lowery is fitting in perfectly with this team and he could very well be the missing piece they needed to put them back over the top.

Yesterday, we highlighted this team’s offense as well as their locker room issues. Playing the Magic last night, one thing remained consistent, and it was not the offense. Not that they needed much of it as the Magic played a terrible game and only put up an embarrassing 72 points, but the Celtics offense wasn’t the fourth ranked offense that they have been this season. Perhaps they knew that this was game one of a back-to-back and they were just going through the motions because Orlando was playing badly and they knew tonight was going to be a tough game in Miami. Whichever is the case, the timing was not good, for a team that’s been having issues, a lackluster game heading into a tough matchup isn’t helping anything get ironed out. The Celtics did hold a players-only meeting prior to the Magic game and the outcome was said to be emotional and nonproductive. A hard night in Miami could worsen the blow.

Miami has to be in bliss right now. They have one of the most talented rosters in the league and everything came together from the start of the season as the growing pains have been nonexistent. Miami comes into this matchup with one of the best defenses in the league and has to be loving what they saw last night out of a dysfunctional Celtics squad. Miami has won five straight and they have won all five by an average of 17 points. In fact, all six of the Heat wins have been by double digits, and it has been against quality teams that were in the playoffs last season and are expected to be there again this season.
