It is game one of the eastern conference finals and we’re in Miami. Let’s be honest, Boston put themselves in a better position to win their series with the Bucks’ At the end of the regular season, Milwaukee decided to sit everyone and ended up losing. The Celtics did not and ended up taking the two seed and that’s what gave them home court in game seven. Now they face a different beast in the Miami Heat. Can they weather this storm too?

Can you imagine, after the start this team had and the press they were getting, that they would be in the Eastern Conference finals? No shot. There were locker room conflicts and stories about blowing up the young talent on the Celtics that all seemed certain to happen, but now even if they don’t get the job done, they have shown what this group is capable of. This series is going to come down to who is going to want it more. Boston is going to have to win a game in Miami, a place where the Heat are 6-0. Boston is no slouch on the road either. They are 4-1 on the road in these playoffs and the one loss was at the buzzer, so they could easily be 5-0.

It was never the Sixers. Luckily for Philly, the Suns’ pathetic game seven made everyone forget about the Sixers stinking it up. The Heat definitely have the veteran edge in this one, as well as the coaching edge. Miami has a little bit better depth than Boston. Miami is 2-3 on the road in the playoffs, and winning at the Garden is no walk in the park. Just like Boston, that script could easily be flipped as Miami was a buzzer beater away from sweeping the Hawks and that record would be 3-2. Miami has the advantage of knowing they will be home for game seven if need be, but they can’t let that affect the six games before that.

Celtics vs Heat pick: Heat ML
This is going to be one hell of a series. I do hope it goes all seven games. As far as this game goes, Boston has just wrapped up a grueling seven-game physical series and now has to travel to Miami. The Heat are rested and at home and have had a little more time to prepare for whichever team was going to win that series. I think Miami takes game one pretty easily.
