Well, the Padres only showed up for one inning, and Musgrove overall had another solid start, but his team just couldn’t give him anything past the first inning. Today we wrap up the week in Philadelphia, where the Phillies are hosting the Cardinals. Both teams have been up and down lately, but tonight we have a big pitching discrepancy on the hill. Which team had the advantage? Let’s break it down and find out.

The Phillies definitely let out some anger in last night’s 14-4 win over Atlanta. That number of runs is only two less than their last five games combined. They will turn to their inexperienced left-hander, Falter, on the mound today. Falter only has three starts this season, so the stat line is not overly impressive. Six strikeouts, four walks, nine runs, three home runs, and just under 13 innings pitched. The home run numbers are definitely concerning with a power lineup like Arizona’s. His starts have been high-scoring and the Phillies offense has had to bail him out of some tough spots, and that will be tough to do against the guy on the other side tonight.

The Cardinals have been playing very .500 baseball lately. Their bats have either been on point, scoring at least five runs, or they have been missing and scored zero. As Mikolas takes the hill tonight for the Cardinals, he has no doubt been their top pitcher this season. He has been absolutely dominant, especially lately. In his last four starts, he’s only allowed 12 combined hits and a combined six runs. Outside of one bad start against the Brewers, Mikolas has been dominant against everyone. His strikeout numbers are up and his walks are down.

Cardinals vs Phillies Pick: Cardinals ML
The Phillies are getting a little too much respect here with this short-dog price against a good team and a guy that’s shown he can pitch against anyone. Take the Cardinals ML.

Same Game Parlay:
Cardinals ML, Miles Mikolas Over 4.5 K’s, Nolan Arenado to record 2+ hits and an RBI, Nick Castellanos to record 2+ hits and Rhys Hoskins to record a run.
