We’re starting the week off with a divisional matchup between the Braves and the Phillies. The
Phillies are continuing to struggle as they fall further and further outside the playoff race. As the
Braves continue to keep pace with the Mets for first place in the division, who will take game
two of the series? Let’s break it down and find out.

A much needed win in Game One of this series. After fans started booing the players, the Phillies stepped it up. Philly needed the win because they had gone 3-6 in their previous nine games. The offense has been the biggest question mark. Harper’s absence has definitely slowed their production, as they have not scored more than three runs in seven of their last ten games. Nola gets the start today for the Phillies; where overall he has pitched well, but did slip up coming up to the break. Overall, the Phillies are 8-11 in his starts and that is largely due to a lack of offense rather than bad pitching. In two starts versus the Braves, the Phillies have won twice, and Nola has surrendered five runs and gone into the seventh inning or beyond.

There is a lot of pressure on this Braves team, not only as defending champs, but keeping pace with the Mets is a challenge in itself. Atlanta is 6-4 in their last 10 and their offense has been clicking, scoring 49 runs in their last 10. Strider takes the hill today for Atlanta. The Braves are 5-5 in his starts. Strider has shown that when he has command of his pitches and can get guys to strike out, he’s almost unstoppable. The multiple double digit strikeout games are proof enough. You can also see games where he had low strikeout numbers, which are games where he got knocked around.

Phillies vs Braves pick: Braves ML
To me, this comes down to which offense I trust more. Right now, that is Atlanta without a doubt. In a game where each pitcher is tough, take the better offense and go with Atlanta.

Same Game Parlay:
Braves ML, Ronald Acuna to hit a HR, Austin Riley to record 2+ hits, Spencer Strider Over 7.5 K’s, Aaron Nola Under 7.5 K’s and Ronald Acuna to record an RBI.
