BILLS VS SAINTS, NOV. 25
The collapse of the Saints in just a year’s time is a sad sight to see. Some of it due to an early season ending injury to Jameis Winston, but a large part of it due to the retirement of Drew Brees. Kamara will now miss his third game and Michael Thomas has not played a single snap all season. There are growing reports that he may not see the field this year at all. Buffalo, who seemingly took the NFL world by storm last season only to come up just short and was poised to take the next step and finally reach that title game have really been stuck in a one step forward and two steps back type of scenario lately. Let’s dig into this matchup and see who can get back on track.
The Saints ship is sinking and fast. Honestly you can’t be surprised, when you’re playing without three pro bowl talented players at three different positions on one side of the ball you just can’t make up the difference. Trevor Siemain has filled in admirably statistics wise. He has a 8-2 TD-INT ratio, but the Saints are 1-3 with him under center. Again, not all hope is lost he has been without some key weapons as well and two of those loses were both only by 2 points. The Saints are averaging 28 points per game with Siemian under center compared to the 23 they were averaging with Winston under center. Defensively over the last month has been the most glaring issue for the Saints as they have allowed 29 points per game. Slowing down Josh Allen and this Buffalo offense seems like it will be the deciding factor in this game for the Saints.
The up and downplay of the Bills over the past month has been one of the more interesting points of the NFL season. An embarrassing loss followed up by a dominant win over the Jets to being blown out against an average Colts team a week later. The Bills will be tested in this game as well going on the road in prime time on a short week against a quarterback that has played well if not better than the guy that just beat them a few days earlier. Look for the offense to get back on track for Buffalo this week against this Saints defense that hasn’t been able to stop all that much against a Bills offense that played poorly last week. In a short week, it is going to be difficult for this defense to fix everything that went wrong against the Colts so expect the Saints to try and replicate some of that with some success.
Bills vs Saints the Pick: Over 45
This total seems really low considering how bad buffalo’s offense looked last week it looks like an overreaction. This Bills team has an on off switch and no in-between and with the way the Saints defense has played the switch should be on Thursday night. Clearly Buffalo has some work to do defensively and the not so bad play of Siemian and the short week for Buffalo should lead to some points for the Saints. Take the over 45.
