This annual Thanksgiving football tradition is a beautiful opportunity to bounce back from a horrific 0-3 performance on Monday Night Football’s best bets. For this divisional rivalry, David Montgomery and the Chicago Bears travel to the Motor City to face off against D’Andre Swift and the Detroit Lions. Last week, the Lions were narrowly defeated 13-10 by the Cleveland Browns. Similarly, Chicago lost in devastating fashion at home to the Baltimore Ravens 16-13. With the Bears offense finding more success in both the running game and passing game recently, they are primed to rebound vs this lifeless Detroit team. With this in mind, here is what I like for this holiday matchup.

Draft Kings NBA Promotion

Bears (-3)
The opening line for this game favored the Bears by four and a half-points, but they are now listed as three point road favorites. While Chicago is 1-4 ATS in their previous five contests, they are also 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Lions. Although Bears rookie QB Justin Fields has been ruled out for this one, backup Andy Dalton has shown flashes of efficiency where he manages the game well by minimizing turnovers. However, the Chicago defense will have to limit D’Andre Swift and the Lions rushing attack to comfortably secure a victory. The last time these two met in October, Chicago was in control all game where they were victorious 24-14. Following their display last week, it’s hard to go against the current fact that they are a team incapable of winning let alone covering the spread. With a simple game plan, Chicago should easily win this game. I like them in this spot to bounce back and will be taking them to cover this small margin.

David Montgomery Over 75.5 Rushing Yards
After running for just 58 yards on the ground vs the Ravens, David Montgomery will be hungry to have a better outing this time against this incapable defense. Despite their shoddy offensive line, Montgomery has been an absolute stud for Chicago where he averages nearly five yards a carry. Last time out vs Detroit, he tore up their defense where he had over 100 yards and two touchdowns. With the 30th overall rush defense in the NFL, the Lions have had a ton of problems with the run this year. In Week 11, their defense allowed nearly 200 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground against the Browns. With their inability to halt the run in every game they’ve played so far, I don’t see that trend changing here. Take David Montgomery to run by this total rushing yardage prop with ease.

D’Andre Swift Any Time TD (+100)
With the limited number of offensive options for the Lions, running back D’Andre Swift serves as the primary offensive target. Although their offense looked lost in Week 9, Swift was able to salvage monster yardage along with a touchdown vs a stout Cleveland defense. So far on the season, Swift has a total of six touchdowns so he has been able to find the end zone with success. With nearly 1,000 total yards from scrimmage already, he is clearly one of the most dynamic and most difficult backs to contain. The Bears are currently ranked in the bottom half in rush defense, so this puts him in a great spot to at least be productive. Additionally, star defensive end Khalil Mack is out for the season and Chicago will also be without their dominant pro bowl defensive tackle this week, Akiem Hicks. With multiple key players out for the Chicago defense, the Lions should be going with a run-first approach. Take him to score in what should be an interesting final score.
