Well, somehow the Pirates did it. They made Corbin actually look good. They even complimented the bullpen on the way out. Today we move to a much more interesting matchup. The Mets are hosting the Astros in a game we know will be much better than a 3-1 Pirates and Nationals game. Both teams came into this series in first place in their divisions, so who has the edge in today’s game? Let’s break it down and find out.

The Astros were all over Carrasco early, dropping a four-piece on him in the first inning. This was a breath of fresh air for the Astros offense, who had gone into a mini slump and had not scored over three runs over their last three games. Today, Verlander takes the bump for the Astros as they look to win this series. Verlander settled down nicely in his last start after an uncharacteristic bad string of outings. He dominated the best team in baseball, the Yankees, going seven innings, only allowing four hits and one run. Houston is 10-4 in games in which Verlander starts this season. Can Verlander maintain this momentum against another top team, or was the Yankee game a fluke?

The Mets come into this game having lost two in a row. Their offense has also been sputtering; they have only scored over three runs in four of their last 10. A couple of those games they have won, and that has been because of their pitching. Walker takes the hill today, and outside of two starts, he has been solid for them all season. The Mets have won his last three starts in a row, where in two of those games, Walker only allowed one run. Walker has four shutout performances so far this season. He has not faced the Astros this season, but this pitching matchup should be a good one.

Astros vs Mets pick: Astros ML
I think the price is too low with Verlander on the hill. I like the Astros’ offense a little more right now, which will matter as both teams might struggle tonight.

Same Game Parlay:
Astros ML, Justin Verlander over 5.5 K’s, Jose Altuve to record 2+ hits, Altuve to record an RBI and Altuve to record a run.
